
WVASN Excellence in School Nursing Leadership of the YEAR 2025
WVASN is proud to announce that Jody Sperry is the recipient of the Excellence in School Nursing Leadership Award. Jody has been the Coordinator of School Health in Harrison County for 9 years. She currently supervises 8 Registered Nurses and 23 Licensed Practical Nurses within her county. She has been a school nurse since 2006.
Jody has been instrumental in advocating for her nurses and students in Harrison County. According to her staff, she is a hard worker that achieves when she is challenged. She has implemented a comprehensive health education system within her county and has increased student awareness if their health. This led to a decrease in absenteeism within the county. She has incorporated the aid of the county organizations to assist in county wide screenings. She has been successful in accruing funds for more AED’s as well as Stop the Bleed Kits in every classroom within the county. Her staff’s recommendation letters show how important and loved she is to her nurses she serves.
Jody has been a member of WVASN for 18 years. To say she has been an active member is an understatement. She has served as WVASN officer and has held the positions of vice president, president elect, president, and immediate past president. In 2016, She served as the Chairperson of WVASN’s Membership Committee.
Jody has been married to her husband Charles for 35 years. She is the mother of two boys, Noah and Luke. When not working, she loves to make jewelry and has her own business. She travels throughout the state doing craft fairs. She also loves crafting and antique collecting with her husband.
